Friday Finds: Woodland Creatures

With all the changes and new ideas happening over here lately, sadly our blog has taken a back seat. While our shop is our main focus right now, there is so much about our blog that we just couldn’t give up; one being that we love sharing about amazing things, whether it be our own creation or someone else’s. So, we decided it was time to bring back Friday Finds as we love sharing with you some of our favorite things around the web, and showing support to other talented crafters and shops.

Mama Bear Print by Sarah and Bendrix | Buffalo Pullover by & Apparel| Owl Felt Mask by Opposite of Far| Crocheted Fox by Lina Maria Dolls  | Cozy Bear Leggings by Sugarlime Lane | DIY Dear Head by We Lived Happily Ever After

I’m dying over all these cute little woodland creatures! We absolutely love playful/whimsical designs and nothing reads it more perfectly than these woodland creatures in all their different design aesthetics. Can you believe this dear head is something you can make yourself?! Hannah from We Lived Happily Ever After (the talented creator) also has step-by-step tutorials on how to make a DIY fox head and a DIY buffalo head that are nothing short of amazing! And if you’re not already completely in love with the owl felt mask, there are many more adorable masks over at Opposite of Far. Don’t even get me started on the crocheted fox! Would it be completely cheesy to decorate my whole house and replace my entire wardrobe with woodland creatures? Because really, I’m half tempted to… ok maybe I’ll just do the kids rooms.

But seriously, check out some of these shops/blogs behind these cute little critters- you won’t be sorry!

Also, you only have one week left to get our “Trick or Treat” Halloween print before it goes away! Visit our shop to get yours today!

Friday Finds #19: September

31dcbb36a0677266869c2701c084b07b

It seems as soon as school starts there is a sudden crispness in the air as school buses drive past the house and as the girls and I watch all the kids walking home from a day at school. The excitement and anticipation of starting a new year, with new clothes, new classes and reuniting with new and old friends is apparent on their faces. In the distant I can hear the whistles and the calling out of plays at a football practice nearby and while making a quick trip to the store I walk past isles full of fall colors, decorations and with the scent of cinnamon and apple cider.  Through all of this I find myself reminiscing of past Septembers and how each one was a start of something new in my life. Even though I am no longer in school I still feel some kind of feeling of a fresh starts and excitement of watching my girls experience similar things. One of which being my oldest daughter starting Preschool on Tuesday. I’m so excited for her to learn new things and make new friends, but like most mothers out there I feel something pulling at my heart strings from it all. I can’t even imagine what I’m going to do when I have to send her off to Kindergarten or 1st grade!

So to celebrate the fast approaching fall and welcome in September with all it’s fun colors, activities and new beginnings we thought we’d do a Friday Finds around the month of September! I’m pretty excited about some of the finds myself!

First off I think this printable by Colette from “My Computer is a Canvas” sums up all the wonderful things about September perfectly!

Next, I think Lauren Conrad is a genius for her post on “10 September Style Tips“. She has some great tips on transitioning some of your summer clothing to work for fall!

Lastly, one of my most favorite and exciting finds is the start of all my TV shows including my absolute favorite, “Parenthood”! Season 6 premiers September 25th! Is anyone else as in love with this show as I am?! I’m so sad this will be the last season.

What’s your favorite thing about September?

Friday Finds #17: Colorblocked

So lets talk some more colorblock… we’re kind of addicted to it! There’s just something so fun and playful about it and the best part is it can be done in many different ways! You can pair similar or contrasting colors together to create a colorful outfit, or you can wear a colorblock piece of clothing that has already been created for you. It is also very easy to DIY your own colorblock pieces, just take a look at this quick jewelry update tutorial or this refashioned dress tutorial.

At the head of all this colorblock hype is of course our Color Block Party Skirt that is featured in our shop. We had a great opening week and are grateful for all of you who helped spread the word. If you have not yet seen our Color Block Party Skirts, check out our shop to view all four fabulous colors! For more colorblock inspiration and finds, visit some of the links below!

Friday Finds #16: Yellow (Under $15)

Sara and her cute family left our house this week. We had such a fun time together and the 2 weeks they stayed went by way too fast as usual. In the 2 weeks they were here we managed to go swimming, go to the children’s museum, to the new “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes” movie, have a dinner party, had our new blog go live, did some photo shoots, sewed, watched many episodes of ‘Impractical Jokers, had a couple game nights, a sushi night, visited BYU campus and watched the kids while the guys had a weekend fishing trip and much more! It’s basically been one big party and I’m missing it already!

So now that all our company is gone I’ve got a huge list of things to do and a weekend full of catching up around the house. However on the bright side we’re having our family pictures done this weekend. I decided to try something a little different for us and have the pictures done at our house with a more relaxed feel. I’m excited to see how it goes. Also on a “bright” note today’s Friday’s finds is all about yellow and once again all for under $15! Take a look!

Just a little plug for the wall art “How bright will you be” by Sarah Jane…it’s free and she is one of my favorite artists! I am saving up my pennies to get some of her artwork for the girl’s playroom.

Hope you all have a fantastic and bright weekend! We also want to congratulate the winners of our Popular posts giveaway; Whitney Batty and MarKay Anderson! Thank you all for entering and once again for ALL your support! We love our readers!

Friday Finds #12: Summer Essentials

Happy Friday everyone! Wow, I barely know where this week went! When I haven’t been working or taking care of family business I’ve been sewing away on my sewing machine. As for a little update on the Colorblock Party Skirts that will be coming to our shop this summer, I have receive all my fabric and have my first skirt completed! Samples of all the color options will be completed by the end of next week, I have a photo shoot scheduled after that, and you’re looking at a possible sneak peak by the end of the month! Things are really moving around here!

As for other news, I handed in my notice at my day job this week. It’s been something me and my husband have been contemplating and praying about for the last month and we finally decided to take the plunge. I’m not 100% sure what the future will hold, but I believe God has a plan of us and so far He hasn’t steered us wrong. I’m a little nervous and yet way excited at the same time! Even more exciting, we’re taking the month of July to road-trip and visit all of our family and friends. Summer vacation…here we come!
So with school almost out and summer vacations on the verge, we decided to put together a list of all our favorite summer essentials:
1.  A pair of shades. Being daughters of an optometrist, we both value the importance of UV protection…and designer sunglasses.
2.  Sunless tanner or sunscreen. If you work indoors or you live in Oregon where it rains all the time, sunless tanner with become your best friend! If you happen to get outdoors more and live in a warmer climate go with the sunscreen…or both.
3.  A beachy, flowy top. Nothing screams summer to me then a relaxed fitting top that I can throw on with a pair of jean or some shorts. It’s comfortable, cute, and breezy!
4.  A summer dress.  A good dress for summer that you can either dress up or dress down is a must.
5.  A good read. We both happen to love reading and there is nothing quite better then finding a nice patch of shade or a spot by the pool and reading a good book. With all the driving we will be doing this summer, I will definitely have a couple of good books packed.
6.  Sandals/Wedges. I have a confession to make… I’m addicted to wedges! I don’t know what it is about them but I do– I love them! These Dr. Scholls wedges have been my favorite because I feel like I could where them all day.
7. A tote bag.  Being a mom I always think a big tote bag is a necessity, but they are especially great for summer day trips to the park, the beach, the zoo, etc.
8. Colored shorts. Personally I prefer the bermuda length shorts, but adding a colorful pair of shorts to your wardrobe is a fun way to brighten things up for summer.
Have a wonderful summer, and we hope you’ll keep in touch! As I’ve said before, we have a lot coming up this on the blog (including a birthday) and you won’t want to miss it!

Friday Finds #13: Summer Book List

Looking at Sara’s fantastically large tote bag this week all I could think about is how great that would be for a trip to the library to fill it with books!
I remember one summer growing up when Sara and I were staying at my Grandma’s house and we had a reading chart. The chart was a large tree and every time we finished a book we would get to put a leaf sticker on a branch of the tree. We would take multiple trips to the library to pick out all sorts of books. Once the all the branches on the tree were filled we got to go out for ice cream. I think that was the summer I truly fell in LOVE with reading. Ever since there is hardly a month that goes by that I don’t read something. Honestly I wish it was more but lets be honest, nothing would done if I did that!
So like mother like daughter, my oldest loves to read! Well she can’t really read yet since she is 3 but she loves being read to and will often spend most of her quiet times looking at books. With summer in full swing and a library card now in hand we plan to make many trips to the library to check out many books. Here are a few on the list that will end up in that tote bag:
Journey” by Aaron Becker
All The World” by Liz Garton Seanton
*Mia really loves this book series! What little girl doesn’t love learning words like “ooh la la”, and “extraordinary!”
The Princess and the Pig” by Jonathan Emmett
*This is one we’ve actually read but keep checking out because we love it so much. It’s a must read if you haven’t yet read it yet!
Catching Kisses” by Amy Gibson
Whale Shine” by Fiona Robinson
The Relatives Came” by Cynthia Rylant
Me Before You” by Jojo Moyes
*Also the author of the blog “The Nesting Place”, Myguillyn has out done herself by writing this amazing book reminding us all to quit being perfectionists and enjoying our homes now and not being afraid to take a some risks. It was such a good book I had to share!
Whistling Past the Graveyard” by Susan Crandall
The Best of Me” by Nicholas Sparks
*I won’t deny it. I’m a Nicholas Sparks fan and in case you missed it the movie to this book is coming out in the fall so time to get reading to prepare!
Happy Reading! ~ Hanna
