For those of you who missed it, I shared my inspiration board and the before pictures of our guest bathroom in my post “
Turning Projects into Reality“.One month later– after several trips to Home Depot, lots of painting and some help from the Mr.– my first home project is officially complete!
As I’ve mentioned before, with renting I never felt like it was worth my time and money to do something that I would have to walk away from. Now that I’m a home-owner I was itching to do my first home project. I decided to start with our guest bathroom.
While it wasn’t in the budget to do a complete rehaul I was able to find affordable ways to update and refresh the space. First while I was buying all the paint I was able to score a highly discounted gallon can of paint only because it didn’t come with a handle. So instead of paying $30 for it I got it for $10! Next time you’re buying paint make sure to see if they have any discounted cans of paint like this sitting behind the counter.
For the vanity, I knew it needed an update but new vanities can cost well over $300. Instead, I primed then painted the vanity itself and then just replaced the vanity top to a clean white one which only cost $74 at Home Depot. The fun mirror we also got from Home Depot. If you’re looking to update a mirror in your bathroom they have some of the most affordable options.
I think one of my favorite features in this bathroom update is the new faucet. It’s a Pfister faucet and while they have a wide selection of faucets, many that I really liked, I decided on the Ideal faucet because the top of it has the ability to pull out and extend around the sink. Not to mention, the faucet was super easy to install; or so Eric says since he was kind enough to do it for me.
After everything is said and done it’s nice to step back and admire the work we put into this bathroom while making it into something that fit our style. It will be exciting to see how other parts of our house come together over the years. As for now here’s a final look at the before and afters of this guest bathroom.

I would replace our bathroom faucet!!
love the new colors and accessories you added-great way to show that you can give a whole new look to a room while working on a budget-and the hint about looking for discounted paint definitely is something I want to try out as well since I need to do some painting here when the weather is warmer. For a faucet, definitely the kitchen is on my list! I need a high, stylish faucet that looks good yet provides me with what I need to get the job done. One I really would love is the Glenfield 2-Handle Kitchen Faucet (I’m someone who needs the 2 handles, so old school lol) and I really love the fact that it has the Tri-Flow water settings, which includes the eco rinse setting to save on water.
Thanks Alanna! I actually really love the color of gray for kitchen cabinets too! I was thinking doing that for the bottom cabinets and then white for the top cabinets in the kitchen. Good luck on the giveaway!
Thanks! Ooh I can’t wait to see what you have planned for the their bathroom. I want to do the girls bathroom sometime too.
So true! We are glad our house came with at least bathroom with that option for bathing the girlies 🙂
I’d love to get the Portola Roman Tub set. One thing we didn’t think about when building this house is having an easy way to bath a baby or a little dog. We really need a hand held option.
Starting to plan out a redo in my kid’s bathroom so winning this would be amazing for my budget! Love your redo!
Ohh, i commented before i entered. I would use a new faucet in my bathroom. My current one works, but that’s about it. It’s pretty sketchy lol. I’m not sure yet which one I would choose if i could.
I love the clean modern lines on everything:) the color on the vanity is VERY similar to the color I painted my kitchen cabinets.

I would replace the the faucet in my bathroom sink. Hopefully with a clean, elegant designed faucet.
It would be so hard to pick one if I were to win, but I’d love to pick out a new faucet for my kitchen!

Exactly what I was going for 🙂 Thanks!
Oh you’re just too kind Sarah! I was worried painting the bathroom white was playing it safe, but I do like the clean and fresh feel white walls give a bathroom.
I love how it is clean and simple. Not cluttered.
I love how this turned out!!! So amazing. I especially like the art print with the shower curtain and the paint colors you chose are awesome!
Love the one on the pic
Great faucet! Your bathroom looks fabulous!!!
I love the new look! And would love love love a new faucet to get me started on my bathroom redo!
I have two bathrooms that desperately need some updating. Either one would get the new faucet!
